THIRD TIME'S A CHARM

Cam McCallum enjoys building new homes so much, he reckons it’s easy. The Classic Builders staff member and partner Nikita Young are old hats, having recently completed their third project.

Nestled amidst a sea of brand new builds in Papamoa’s Coast development, their custom new build home is utterly unique. Loaded with creative flair, it is suitably tailored to a laidback lifestyle. Keen entertainers, Cam and Nikita needed a home that made hosting both seamless and enjoyable.

“People aren’t always aware how much individuality you can achieve with Classic Builders, but the options are endless," says Cam. We loved being involved in every stage of the decision-making process and having the opportunity to choose exactly what we want.”

For baking enthusiast and accomplished cook Nikita, it was a sizable kitchen larder to store cake tins, appliances and the ingredients necessary to whip up culinary delights. Cam insisted on a mancave, designated solely to sports watching, with an excessively large television screen. Both rooms wrap an outdoor courtyard, sheltered by an adjustable louvred ceiling. Whoever says they don’t have favourites is fibbing. For Nikita and Cam, it’s unanimous - this area wins, hands down.

“The stacking sliders are an architectural design and are enormous. Opened right up, the whole area between inside and out becomes one,” says Nikita.

Cam and Nikita have done their dues in less enviable abodes (think university flats) and had a specific list of ‘must-haves’. The first, a gas fire. Quick to warm, easy to get going and ducted to each of the four bedrooms, it ticks not only the heating box but has ambiance covered too. Another wish list item for Nikita was an indoor laundry. A humble request many might balk at but one, that was graciously obliged by the Classic team.

Nikita was also particularly keen on the colour selection of the home. “We’ve learnt something from each build we’ve done but the one part that never gets easier is choosing the colours. This time it was all about warmth, so we opted for oak timber flooring. We both love it so much - I don’t think we’ll ever use anything else.”

Cameron continues; “Call me biased, but Classic is great to deal with. I don’t just think it; I get positive feedback from both customers and industry all the time."
