Get in touch
A showhome visit is a chance to see ideas in real spaces. You can get a feel for room proportions, notice useful details and imagine how a layout might work for you.
Bring a few questions as well as your inspiration list. The home on display may include features or finishes that differ from the package or build you are considering.
Here is how to make the visit useful.
Bring a short brief
Think about your priorities before you arrive. You might be looking for better storage, a quiet work area, easier access or space for visitors.
Keep your budget in mind too. It helps you recognise which features would make a difference and which are simply nice to look at.
Walk through your own routine
Imagine coming in with groceries, getting ready in the morning or cooking with other people around. Notice the routes through rooms and the way doors and furniture use the space.
Ask about dimensions where you want to compare them with your own belongings. The styling can help you picture a room, but it does not replace checking the plan.
Ask what is included
· Which finishes belong to the standard specification?
· Which features are upgrades or specific to this showhome?
· What appliances, heating and outdoor work are included in my offer?
· Can I see the written inclusions for the home I am considering?
· Would this plan need changes for my section?
Our House + Land inclusions guide helps you look beyond the display.
Keep notes you can use later
Write down what you liked and why. If photographs are permitted, use them to record practical details as well as finishes.
You may notice a useful laundry arrangement, a storage solution or a room connection you want to discuss. Bring those observations into your next conversation.
Ask about the complete cost
If a feature interests you, find out whether it can be offered for your project and what the full change would involve. Consider related work and timing alongside the product price.
Use our budget checklist to think about extras and the costs around moving in.
Choose the next step
If the plan feels close to what you need, ask about available homes or adaptation options. If it mainly gives you ideas, use them to develop a design brief.
