FOUND A NEW HOME YOU LIKE? WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

The exact steps can vary depending on whether the home is move-in ready, under construction or off the plan, but generally you'll:

1. Talk to the local team
Ask questions about the home, section, timing, price and inclusions.

2. Confirm your finance
Talk to your bank or lending adviser about the property and your lending requirements.

3. Review the details
Understand what's included, the contract, expected timeframes and any decisions you'll need to make.

4. Sign and get underway
Once the conditions of your agreement are met, what happens next will depend on the stage of your home.

5. Get ready to move in
For homes still being built, we'll keep you updated as construction progresses. Once your home is complete and the requirements of your contract are met, it's time for settlement or handover.

Can my first home be a brand-new home?

Yes. You can buy a new home move-in ready, under construction or off the plan, depending on what's available in your preferred location and what works for your timeframe, budget and finance.

What are the different ways I can buy a new home?

Our new homes are available at different stages. Choose a move-in ready home that's already complete, a home under construction, or buy off the plan for more opportunity to personalise. With House + Land, the home and section are already brought together.

Do I need to buy land separately with House + Land?

No. A House + Land package combines a section and home into one package, taking away the need to find a section and design a home separately.

What is included in a House + Land package?

A House + Land package brings the home and section together, but exact inclusions can vary between properties. Check the individual package and contract for what's included, such as site works, flooring, appliances, landscaping and other completed works, as well as any optional upgrades.

Can I personalise a new home?

It depends on when you buy. A move-in ready home is already complete, while buying under construction may leave some selections available depending on the build stage. Buying off the plan generally gives you the greatest opportunity to personalise selected colours, finishes and details before construction progresses.

Is the price of a Classic Builders House + Land package fixed?

Classic Builders offers fixed-price contracts, so you'll have clarity around the agreed build price and inclusions. Check the individual package and contract for exactly what's included.

Where does Classic Builders have first homes available?

Availability changes as homes sell and new homes are released. Explore our current new homes and developments to see what's available in your preferred region.

What's the difference between progress payments and turnkey?

With progress payments, payments are made at agreed stages as your home is built. With turnkey, you generally pay a deposit upfront and the remaining balance when the completed home settles. Lending requirements can differ, so talk to your bank or lending adviser about which option could work for you.

Is a new home more expensive than an existing home?

Not necessarily. Price depends on the home, section and location, so compare the total cost rather than the age of the property alone. With a new home, it's also worth considering what you won't need to replace or renovate immediately, along with the benefits of modern specifications, lower initial maintenance and warranties.

Yes. Your new Classic Builders home is backed by a 10-year structural warranty, along with our Aftercare service once you've moved in.

How much deposit do I need to buy my first home?

The deposit you need will depend on your financial circumstances, lender and the property you're buying. New-build lending requirements can also differ from buying an existing home. Talk to your bank or lending adviser early so you know what applies to you and what budget you can work with.

Can I use KiwiSaver to buy a new home?

If you're eligible, you may be able to use money from your KiwiSaver account towards your first-home deposit. Eligibility and withdrawal requirements apply, so check the current rules with your KiwiSaver provider or an official government source.
