When you build or buy a new home, knowing what happens after handover matters.
Classic Builders has its own warranty structure, designed specifically around the homes we build and backed by a business that has been building across New Zealand for more than 30 years.
Every Classic Builders home comes with our dedicated warranty protection, including 2 years' cover for certain materials and workmanship defects and a 10-year structural warranty, subject to the terms and conditions of the Classic Builders Warranty.
Why aren't Classic Builders part of Master Builders?
It's a question we're sometimes asked, and the answer is straightforward.
Rather than participating in a pooled warranty scheme such as Master Builders, Classic Builders provides its own warranty structure.
This means responsibility stays directly with Classic. Your warranty is provided by the regional Classic Builders company named in your building contract and is supported by Classic Warranties Limited, a separate entity established to stand behind our warranty obligations.
If a Classic Builders branch was ever unable to deal with a valid warranty claim, that structure is designed so the warranty entity remains in place to support valid claims..
What protection do you have with Classic?
Your new home is protected by both your rights under New Zealand's Building Act and the additional protection provided through the Classic Builders Warranty.
Depending on the nature of the issue and the terms of your warranty, this includes:
- 2-year materials and workmanship cover for certain construction defects
- 10-year structural cover for certain defects affecting load-bearing structural elements
- A direct relationship with Classic Builders when something needs attention
- Our dedicated Aftercare team, supporting you once you've moved into your home
- The additional backing of Classic Warranties Limited
Our warranty is also accepted by major New Zealand lenders, subject to individual lender policies and requirements.

We've been building homes in New Zealand for more than 30 years, and our commitment doesn't finish when the keys change hands. If something isn't right, our Aftercare team provides a clear point of contact and a process for getting it addressed.
It's about accountability after handover, not simply handing you a warranty document and moving on.
