Classic Builders is one of the largest residential builders in New Zealand and are proudly Kiwi owned and operated. Originating in the Bay of Plenty, we now extend our services from Queenstown and Canterbury to Wellington, Waikato, Auckland, and Northland. What is your process?

Our build process is a journey from dream to reality. First, we work with you to create your dream home plan, either by collaborating with our experts or selecting from our curated options. Then, our colour and design experts assist you in adding those perfect finishing touches to bring your vision to life. Next, we transition to the construction phase, where your dream takes shape from concepts to three-dimensional reality. Finally, it's time to live your dream as we hand over the keys to your new home!

 

What is the difference between House & Land and Design & Build?

House & Land simplifies the process with a pre-designed home on a designated plot of land, while Design & Build offers customization and control over the entire process, from you selecting the land to designing and building your dream home.

 

What is your warranty?
We offer a comprehensive warranty package to provide peace of mind to our clients. Our warranty includes a 10-year structural warranty and a 24-month defects and workmanship warranty, both effective from the settlement date. This warranty reflects the pride we take in standing behind our product and ensuring the quality and longevity of your new home.

 

Can you offer a fixed price contract for lending approval?

This is a common question, and one we understand is often a key element to you securing your finance approval to make a purchase.  Yes, we can offer a fixed price contract and will work with you to ensure you have the information you need to secure your lending.

 

Can we supply and/or install some products within the build?

Yes, we can work with you through the process for what we call “Owner Supplied” items.  Products and services however will however need to be approved to ensure they meet the requirements of the building code and supply does not impact the build program.

 

If I find a section, will you buy it and package it up?

Are there cost penalties if I change my choices after signing a contract?

These changes are called “Variations” and will alter the original cost shown on the signed contract.  We will work closely with you to ensure you are aware of and accept any cost implications that variations may incur before proceeding. We do not charge penalties; the variation reflects the cost of the change at the stage of the process.

 

How long will it take from signing my contract to handover?

This will depend on if land title has been issued and the size and complexity of your build, but as a guideline, a mid-sized build takes approximately six months but could be 9+ months for a larger complex build.

 

Do you handle all the consent applications?

Yes, we take care of it all! From start to finish, handling all the consent applications means less stress for you, allowing you to focus on the excitement of building your dream home without the hassle of paperwork and administrative tasks.

 

Do you have your own builders? 

We have a pool of contractors nationally, some of whom we've been working with for up to 27 years. We view them as part of our team and having strong build partner relationships is crucial to providing you with the best outcome. These contractors are familiar with our processes and consistently deliver work to our high standards.

 

HOUSE & LAND SPECIFIC

What is included in a House & Land Package? 

A House & Land Package offers a comprehensive solution for those seeking a hassle-free home buying experience. The package encompasses everything necessary for a move in ready home, including the design and construction on a chosen plot of land, site preparation, utilities connection, basic landscaping, interior and exterior finishes, plumbing and bathroom fixtures, and chosen appliances. With all aspects of the home taken care of, buyers can move in with ease and confidence, avoiding the complexities of managing the build and/or unexpected costs. 


I would like to make some changes. Is this possible?      

Yes! Depending on timing you can make some changes. We have a selection of fixed price upgrades which mean you can put your touch on some elements of your home. These include but are not limited to your colours, door styles, handles, appliances, tiles, carpet etc. 

 

DESIGN & BUILD SPECIFIC

Do you do custom designs or is it just what’s on your website?
Absolutely! Custom designs are at the heart of what we do. We have an in-house team of designers dedicated to bringing your unique vision to life. Working closely with you and your building consultant, we'll translate your ideas into detailed plans. While we offer a range of plans on our website for inspiration, our focus is on tailoring designs to suit your specific needs and preferences.

 

What is your sqm rate?

Our approach to pricing is a bit different from many of our competitors. We believe in providing accurate estimates tailored to your specific needs rather than a generic square meter rate. Factors like your chosen specifications, materials, design, and site evaluation play a significant role in determining the final cost. By taking a comprehensive approach and not providing generic square meter rates, we aim to eliminate surprises and provide you with a transparent and consultative experience aka “no surprises”.


How can I see all the product options available for my build?

Your building consultant will work with you to ensure you are aware of all your product options or where to go to see, touch and feel them.  Most of our regions have a selection centre or Showhomes where you can view our product range, and we have a great network of key suppliers who are more than happy to assist you at their showrooms.

 

Will I be able to meet with the designer drawing my house plans?

Yes, we encourage this.  We can organise a face-to-face meeting or depending on your location we can facilitate an online meeting if required. Check with your Building Consultant to see what option works best.
