Clever Landscaping Transformed This Omokoroa New Build
Cute, cozy and warm. Minimal, yet sweet specifications for this elevated Omokoroa abode.
Gardening guru lover of flowers Jane Bryant, insisted the grounds of her new home be semi established, before she moved in.
J. I moved here from Pahoia, where I’d grown hydrangeas commercially and my property overlooked fields of flowers and out to fabulous water views. These were hard to leave behind, but the Classic Builder’s team were fabulous and worked alongside my landscaper to ensure I arrived to a simple, green and white garden that smelt delicious.
Jane opted for stack bond concrete block, with sections of stained cedar to give her home a unique look. Some simple design choices, added a slight European feel.
J. Weatherboard is lovely but I wanted something low maintenance. Each step of the process was easy and everyone wonderfully accommodating.
Claiming it may be her last stop, Jane’s decision to build rather than buy, came down to comfort and warmth.
J. I didn’t want to go into something that wasn’t double glazed anymore. It’s really made such a difference. Even in winter I’m flinging the doors open because it’s just so warm!
Subway tiles line the back wall of Jane’s Heirloom kitchen three beautiful pendant lights hanging above the counter top are ones she sourced herself.
J. I spotted the lights in a magazine and arranged for my daughter Sarah to bring them down for me from Auckland. My good friend is an interior designer and assisted with the décor.. With careful placement we have integrated my antique furniture seamlessly into my new modern home – it really works.
Jane’s love for hydrangeas is evident throughout the home, with printed luxe linens gracing cushions and pillowcases in rich deep hydrangea hues. All three bedrooms have been beautifully tailored to accommodate each of her family members, but none more so than her own sanctuary.
J. I love the little view I get from here, looking back along the coast to Pahoia and the Kaimais.
Jane’s arrival has been perfectly timed with the spring weather.
J. I’m really looking forward to seeing the camellias reach the top of the fence. I envisage the garden growing into a lush wall of greenery.
